Some Work Distractions For You!

Wahoo! We're in the final stretch of work-before-the-holidays, and I am feeling positively giddy about my upcoming time off. I hope you're getting to take some time to be with your family, work through that to-do list, recharge, and most importantly, celebrate CHRISTMAS or HANNUKAH or NEW YEARS or whatever festive thing you want to celebrate this time of year!

As you're probably feeling listless and unmotivated to tackle those work emails and assignments, here are some fun distractions for you...

If you're in the mood to celebrate women...
Check out TIME's celebration of awesome ladies with their Top Ten Moments for Women in 2014.

If you need motivation to reach those goals...
This is a neat visual breakdown of how lots of brilliant/famous/inspiring people schedule their days. I'm most impressed with the people who have to fit in both creative endeavors and day jobs, like Franz Kafka. Also, none of them slept that much!

If you're looking for a little sass...
Do you remember that kid I posted about a while ago who had it going on? Well, American Apparel made him a model, and it's fantastic in every way.

If you want to give back this holiday season but don't know how...
Just Give is a great volunteering and donation resource. I've been wanting to do something this month, but I feel overwhelmed by choices! So many people need help. This website gave me some clarity, options, and ideas.

If you need a quick lesson on privilege...
My friend Charlie shared this with me...it's how a teacher quickly and powerfully illustrated the idea of privilege to his class. It comes with great visuals too. Such a quick read but what an impact.

If you were reading my post on how to get Christmassy in LA and are disappointed because the LA Zoo Lights event is already sold out for, like, ever...
Don't worry, there are PLENTY of other opportunities to see pretty lights in LA! You can find them all on Red Tricycle. I highly recommend Hastings Ranch - fun on foot or in the car!

If you need some reassurance that you're not crazy...
Here's a gentle reminder from Oliver Burkeman that, for better or for worse, everyone is winging it...all the time.

Have a good one, you guys! Try to NOT do this today:
