Cards For All (Your Very Specific) Occasions

I'm having a really hard time verbalizing my gratitude for my family and friends. This past week was full of highs and lows (mostly highs) - a home shower, a work shower, a stomach virus that resulted in a trip to the hospital (I'm fine!), a visit from my parents, sick family members, oodles of gifts, oodles of food, kind and concerned texts, emails, and calls...

So many emotions! And now my heart is almost bursting over the love I feel for all the truly good people in my life! I'm having a hard time not sounding trite and cheesy and Hallmarky in this post. You know, like, "It takes a village!" and "That's what friends are for!" and "You've got a friend in me!" (That last one is a bit more Disney than Hallmark, but I think they have a consumer products deal together anyway, so it's basically the same thing.)

So I decided to just lean right into the cheese and write my own Hallmark-esque cards. These are my highly specific greeting cards I wrote for various situations from the last week. But I don't know - maybe they will work for you too? Keep them on-hand, just in case.

----
Outside:
Thank you for throwing me a half Michigan / half California - themed shower!

Inside:
And by that I mean - thank you for putting up with my weird obsession with my home state. I swear there's more to Michigan than the Militia and deserted houses in Detroit!
----

Outside:
Thank you for holding my hair back when I had the stomach flu.

Inside:
Extra thank you's for making me go to the hospital to confirm my unborn child and I don't have Ebola.
----

Outside:
Thank you for making me delicious dinners every night while I'm pregnant.

Inside:
I would reward you with sexual favors, but that's what got us into this mess.
----

Outside:
Thank you for putting Bull Durham into the DVD player when I couldn't move from the couch.

Inside:
I'm never taking it out again, much to my husband's dismay.
----

Outside:
Thank you for throwing me the most thoughtful, beautiful, and generous shower.

Inside:
If you make me cry again while I'm pregnant, I will seriously cut you.

----
Outside:
Thank you for giving this baby SO MANY PRESENTS.

Inside:
When he unleashes his artistic genius on the world at age 2.5, you will receive a signed copy of one of his original works (8x10 or less).
----

Outside:
Thank you for your continual love and support. Thank you for making me feel like we can raise this baby so far away from our families.

Inside:
There's no joke here. I'm just so so grateful for you. I love you, and I thank you.

A couple images from this week. I left out the flu-related stuff.
